It has been peppering our social feeds for a while but its when you do a deep dive into the brand that you really understand that is not just a brand with a cool and sexy cooking aesthetic ( yes turns out pans can be sexy ), it has a revolutionary concept too. We sat down with the female powerhouse behind the brand: Shiza Shahid, Co-Founder of Our Place
How / why / when did you start Our place?
I founded Our Place to revolutionize the kitchen with healthier, toxin-free, beautifully designed, and user-friendly products that make cooking enjoyable and delicious. My goal was to inspire more people to cook at home and share nourishing meals, because home-cooking is the essence of connecting with ourselves, our bodies, our families, our communities, and our traditions.
Your brand has such a strong aesthetic, why was this important to you?
We create products that marry functionality, performance and beautiful design - as we see aesthetic joy as a function too. In a sea of bland, uniform kitchenware, we set out to redefine the industry and design unique products that elevate the everyday and mundane. Our Place’s products make cooking a creative act, something you choose to do to nourish yourself and your loved ones, to take care of your wellbeing, and to form connections.
What's your favourite thing to cook using your pans?
I love creating a delicious frittata – the pan transitions effortlessly from stovetop to oven; or making fluffy scrambled eggs in the morning as the toxin-free nonstick makes clean-up a breeze, or making a vibrant shakshuka as the Always Pan’s depth is perfect for it.
What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs?
Trust your intuition. Your instincts are a powerful tool. Don’t be afraid to trust them, especially when making tough decisions or navigating uncharted territory.
What's next for Our place?
We've just launched the Wonder Oven in the U.K., an all-in-one air fryer, toaster, and oven that’s flying off the shelves. This beautifully designed, toxin-free appliance redefines what an air fryer can be, offering health, iconic design, and versatility. With demand surging, we're working tirelessly to keep up with orders and bring this revolutionary product to more kitchens.
